CVE-2022-47015Network attack vector

Authenticated server crash via Spider warning handling

Published Jan 20, 2023 · Updated Apr 3, 2025

NULL pointer dereference in affected MariaDB Server releases allows remote authenticated users to crash mysqld through Spider warning handling. spider_db_mbase::print_warnings treats a null mysql_store_result result as an empty result when no client error is set, then passes it to mysql_num_fields. Low-privileged SQL access, a Spider table, and spider_log_result_errors of at least 3 are required; the bounded consequence is a mysqld crash.
