CVE-2022-46997Network attack vector

Code execution via malicious request dependency

Published Dec 14, 2022 · Updated Apr 21, 2025

Code execution backdoor in Passhunt commits 9a063f8 through 54eb987 allows attackers to execute code during dependency installation. The requirements.txt file names the malicious request package, whose setup.py downloads and executes code from an obfuscated command-and-control address. Installation from a mirror retaining that package triggers a payload that modifies .bashrc for persistence and steals browser cookies and Coinbase secrets.
