Arbitrary file read via built-in web server traversal
Published Dec 8, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Path traversal in JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA before 2022.3 allows local users to read arbitrary files via the built-in web server. The server fails to constrain requested paths to the project or document root, allowing traversal outside the intended directory. Exploitation requires local access to the IDE's server and results in confidentiality loss without file modification or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
