Authenticated row modification via Update Many authorization bypass
Published Dec 8, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Incorrect authorization in affected Hasura GraphQL Engine releases allows remote authenticated users to update unauthorized PostgreSQL rows. The Update Many API fails to enforce row-level permission filters, applying permitted column updates to every row in the target table and returning select-permitted fields. Exploitation requires an enabled Update Many API, table update permission, a PostgreSQL backend, and no applicable Allow List restriction.
