Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attribute
Published Jan 23, 2023 · Updated Apr 2, 2025
Stored XSS in Mongoose Marketplace Mongoose Page Plugin before 1.9.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript via a shortcode. The shortcode renderer places the language attribute into page output without validation or escaping, so a crafted value injects an event handler. Contributor access is sufficient to store the payload, and execution requires another user to view the rendered shortcode.
