Memory disclosure via unchecked gather_tree dimensions
Published Dec 7, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
An out-of-bounds read in PaddlePaddle before 2.4 allows attackers to disclose process memory through a malformed gather_tree tensor. GatherTreeKernel indexes ids_dims[2] without first requiring a three-dimensional ids tensor and uses parent values as offsets without checking them against beam_size. Exploitation requires an application to pass attacker-controlled tensor shapes or parent indices to gather_tree; the resulting read can expose process data or crash the process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
