CVE-2022-46723Network attack vector

Arbitrary file write via attachment path traversal

Published Feb 27, 2023 · Updated Mar 11, 2025

Path traversal in Calendar in Apple macOS Big Sur before 11.7.1 and Monterey before 12.6.1 allows remote attackers to write arbitrary files. Calendar fails to sanitize attachment filenames in crafted event invitations, allowing traversal outside the intended attachment directory. Receiving the invitation requires no user interaction, and the resulting write primitive can overwrite or delete files reachable by Calendar.
