Stored XSS via unescaped API values
Published Dec 7, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Cross-site scripting in Jenkins Checkmarx Plugin 2022.3.3 and earlier lets remote authenticated users execute script via API values. The plugin inserts unescaped Checkmarx service API responses into generated HTML reports, allowing stored payloads to run when a Jenkins page renders them. Exploitation requires a user to view the affected report; Jenkins notes that a man-in-the-middle attacker can manipulate responses when users lack permission to configure the service URL.
