Device takeover via MAC allowlist stack overflow
Published Dec 30, 2022 · Updated Apr 11, 2025
A stack overflow in TRENDnet TEW-755AP firmware 1.13B01 allows remote attackers to take over the access point via a crafted configuration value. The kick_ban_wifi_mac_allow function fails to constrain the qcawifi.wifi%d_vap%d.maclist value, allowing it to overwrite a stack buffer. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation grants access to the device operating system.
