Stored script execution via unescaped shortcode attribute
Published Jan 16, 2023 · Updated Apr 4, 2025
Stored XSS in Frank Bültge RSSImport 4.6.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via a crafted shortcode. The shortcode handler places the unvalidated target attribute into generated HTML without output escaping, allowing attribute breakout. Contributor access is sufficient to store the payload in a post or page; it executes when a visitor hovers over the rendered feed list.
