Authenticated code execution via oversized VPN password
Published Dec 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Stack overflow in D-Link DIR-882 1.30B06 and DIR-878 1.30B08 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via crafted Quick VPN settings. The SetQuickVPNSettings handler accepts an oversized Password value without bounding the resulting write to fixed-size stack storage. Administrative access to the web configuration interface is required; exploitation can crash the router or redirect program control.
