Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode height attribute
Published Jan 16, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2025
Stored XSS in WPSoul Greenshift before 4.8.9 allows remote authenticated users to inject browser scripts through a shortcode attribute. The wp_reusable_render shortcode outputs the attacker-controlled height attribute without sufficient validation or escaping, letting a quote terminate the style value and add an event handler. Contributor access is sufficient to store the payload in page content; the script runs when a visitor loads the affected page and can act in that visitor's browser context.
