Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Mar 13, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025
Stored XSS in Push Labs Video Background before 2.7.5 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. The shortcode renderer places unvalidated, unescaped attribute values into page output, where crafted values break into executable JavaScript. Contributor-level access is required to save the shortcode, and the script runs when another user visits the affected page or post.
