CVE-2022-46490Public exploit

Resource exhaustion via leaked AFRT entry allocation

Published Jan 5, 2023 · Updated Apr 10, 2025

Memory leak in GPAC 2.1-DEV-rev505-gb9577e6ad-master allows context-dependent attackers to exhaust memory via a crafted MP4 file. The afrt_box_read parser allocates a GF_AdobeFragmentRunEntry before confirming that an AFRT record contains all required bytes, then returns on a truncated record before adding the allocation to the cleanup list. User interaction is required to make MP4Box inspect the malformed file; repeated parsing accumulates leaked allocations, exhausting process memory and interrupting the application without reading or altering data.
