CVE-2022-4645Public exploit

Crash via unterminated TIFF InkNames string

Published Mar 3, 2023 · Updated Apr 4, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in tiffcp in LibTIFF 4.4.0 and earlier allows local users to crash the utility with a crafted TIFF file. tiffcp passes an unterminated InkNames tag value to strlen at tools/tiffcp.c line 948, so the scan continues beyond the allocated heap buffer. Exploitation requires the crafted file to be processed locally; the demonstrated consequence is termination of the tiffcp process.
