Authenticated code execution via unverified firmware upload
Published Dec 20, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025
Improper firmware validation in TP-Link TL-WR740N V1 and V2 3.12.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The firmware update process accepts and installs a crafted firmware image without adequately verifying its integrity. A reachable management interface and valid administrator credentials are required; exploitation executes attacker-supplied code or interrupts router operation.
