Remote command execution via unescaped PDF path
Published Dec 21, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in Sajari docconv 1.2.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through a crafted PDF path. PDFHasImage interpolates the unescaped path into a pdffonts pipeline executed by bash -c, allowing shell command substitutions to run. An OCR-enabled build must process an attacker-controlled path; injected commands run with the privileges of the hosting process.
