Authenticated DoS via crafted firmware upload
Published Dec 20, 2022 · Updated Apr 17, 2025
Denial-of-service in Netgear WNR2000 v1 1.2.3.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service by uploading a crafted firmware image. The firmware-update upload path accepts a crafted image without sufficient authenticity verification, allowing malformed firmware to reach the update handler. Authentication and access to the firmware update interface are required; the bounded consequence is router service interruption rather than confidentiality or integrity loss.
