Connection denial via DHCP lease pool exhaustion
Published Mar 27, 2023 · Updated Feb 19, 2025
DHCP starvation in DJI Spark firmware 01.00.0900 allows remote attackers to deny legitimate devices access to the drone network. The DHCP server accepts manipulated DISCOVER and REQUEST packets tied to fake MAC addresses as legitimate leases until its address pool is exhausted. The attacker must first join the drone's internal Wi-Fi network, after which new clients receive no IP address and cannot reach drone services.
