Privilege escalation via persisted default password
Published Dec 4, 2022 · Updated Apr 24, 2025
Default credentials in Veritas NetBackup Flex Scale and Access Appliance allow remote authenticated users to escalate appliance privileges. The installation process leaves the primary user's default password valid after setup rather than invalidating or replacing it. Affected releases are NetBackup Flex Scale 3.0 and earlier and Access Appliance 8.0.100 and earlier; exploitation requires low-privileged network access and discovery of the retained password.
