Authenticated service crash via unbounded PORT parsing
Published May 10, 2023 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in Weston Embedded uC-FTPs 1.98.00 allows remote authenticated users to crash the FTP server via a PORT command. FTPs_ProcessCtrlCmd searches for an ASCII digit without stopping at the command buffer's NUL terminator, advances beyond received data, and dereferences unmapped memory. Exploitation requires an authenticated FTP session and interrupts availability by terminating the server process.
