Code execution via X_B parser out-of-bounds write
Published Dec 13, 2022 · Updated Apr 21, 2025
Out-of-bounds writes in Siemens Parasolid and Solid Edge allow attackers to execute code when a user opens a crafted X_B file. Their X_B parsers write past the end of an allocated structure while processing attacker-controlled file data. Exploitation requires user interaction and runs code with the privileges of the process that opens the file.
