CVE-2022-4627Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode class attribute

Published Jan 23, 2023 · Updated Apr 2, 2025

Stored XSS in SevenSpark ShiftNav before 1.7.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via crafted shortcode attributes. The shiftnav_toggle shortcode emits its class attribute without validation or escaping, so a quote can terminate the attribute and add an event handler. Contributor access is sufficient to save the payload; execution occurs when a higher-privileged user interacts with the rendered toggle, exposing that browser session to script-controlled reads or actions.
