Authenticated code execution via Pages path traversal
Published Dec 14, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
Path traversal in GitHub Enterprise Server allows remote authenticated users to execute code by building a GitHub Pages site. GitHub has not disclosed the affected file-handling locus or the operation that permits a crafted Pages build path to escape its intended directory. Exploitation requires permission to create and build a Pages site, after which code runs on the instance with server-side impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
