Local shell access via environment variable bypass
Published Dec 28, 2022 · Updated Apr 14, 2025
Authentication bypass in LiuWoodsCode LiuOS 0.1.0 and earlier allows local users to obtain a LiuOS shell without valid credentials. Within core.py's actualsys function, any nonempty GITHUB_ACTIONS value triggers actualsys before the username and password comparison, so credential validation is skipped. Exploitation requires control of the process environment and grants access to the emulated shell; the advisory does not establish access to the host operating system.
