Cluster privilege escalation via removable namespace ownership
Published Dec 2, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Incorrect authorization in Clastix Capsule before 0.1.3 allows remote authenticated users to escalate privileges in Kubernetes clusters. The namespace admission path fails to reject removal of a Tenant Namespace OwnerReference, so reconciliation and enforced security labels cease. Exploitation requires a tenant ServiceAccount with PATCH access to its Namespace and permits privileged containers to be started.
