CVE-2022-46146Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authentication bypass via ambiguous cache-key concatenation

Published Nov 29, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Authentication bypass in Prometheus Exporter Toolkit before 0.7.2 and 0.8.0 through 0.8.1 allows remote attackers to access protected endpoints. The web handler concatenates the username, stored hash, and supplied password without boundaries before encoding the authentication-cache key, allowing distinct credential triples to share a cached success. The attack requires read access to a bcrypt hash in web.yml and then grants unauthorized access to endpoints protected by the toolkit.
