Credential disclosure via forgeable API tokens
Published Dec 19, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Hard-coded credentials in the browser-extension API in Click Studios Passwordstate allow remote attackers to read stored website passwords. The API token concatenates user data, XOR-encrypts it with a hard-coded key, and validates only the embedded username. An existing username is required; a forged token grants access to that user's browser-extension-visible passwords and permits modification of that data.
