CVE-2022-4604Network attack vector

Locale change and redirect via nonce-free GET

Published Dec 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Cross-site request forgery in English WordPress Admin 1.5.0 through 1.5.1 allows remote attackers to alter a user locale cookie. The register_endpoints function accepts admin_custom_language_toggle and admin_custom_language_return_url GET parameters without verifying a request nonce, then writes the cookie and redirects the browser. Exploitation requires user interaction with a crafted request; the resulting changes are limited to the user's administration locale and browser destination.
