Authenticated code execution via language path traversal
Published Jan 3, 2023 · Updated Apr 10, 2025
Path traversal in MyBB's Admin CP Languages module before 1.8.33 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary local files. The module fails to confine the requested language file to the language directory, causing PHP to include a traversal-selected local file. Exploitation requires Admin CP access with the Can manage language packs permission and grants code execution in the forum's server context.
