CVE-2022-45856Network attack vector

SAML traffic interception via certificate validation failure

Published Sep 10, 2024 · Updated Sep 10, 2024

Improper certificate validation in Fortinet FortiClient SAML SSO allows man-in-the-middle attackers to intercept authentication traffic. The client-side SAML SSO path does not properly validate certificates when communicating with the service provider and identity provider. Exploitation requires network positioning between the client and either SAML endpoint and exposes or permits alteration of exchanged SSO data, without reported service interruption.
