Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode author attribute
Published Jan 16, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2025
Stored XSS in Video Conferencing with Zoom before 4.0.10 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through shortcode attributes. The zoom_list_meetings shortcode returns its author attribute into page markup without validation or escaping, allowing injected event-handler code to persist. Contributor access is sufficient to store the payload, and execution occurs when a higher-privileged user views or hovers over the rendered meeting list.
