Heap memory corruption via malformed ELF debug section

Out-of-bounds write in GNU Binutils readelf before 2.40 allows local users to corrupt heap memory through crafted ELF debug-section data. The display_debug_section function in readelf.c accesses heap storage beyond its allocated bounds while displaying the malformed section. Processing requires a user to run readelf against the attacker-supplied file; public sources do not document successful code execution.
