Authenticated command execution via ping host injection
Published Feb 17, 2023 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Command injection in Arris TG2482A firmware through 9.1.103GEM9 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary shell commands. The authenticated /snmpSet endpoint accepts a shell-substitution payload in the ping-host OID, and the utility evaluates the embedded command instead of treating it as a host value. Valid administrative credentials and network access to the router interface are required; successful exploitation grants command execution in the firmware context.
