Local privilege escalation via unchecked symbolic links
Published Feb 27, 2023 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Link following in Razer Central before 7.8.0.381 allows local users to delete arbitrary files and escalate privileges. During user login, the Razer Central service processes files in the Accounts directory without rejecting symbolic links, so deletion follows an attacker-controlled link to its target. Local access sufficient to create the link is required, and deletion under the service's permissions can remove protected files and enable privilege escalation.
