Unauthenticated denial of service via recursive JSON parsing
Published Dec 13, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
Out-of-memory denial of service in hutool-json 5.8.10 allows remote attackers to interrupt service via crafted JSON input. The JSONObject constructor recursively processes deeply nested brace structures without a depth or resource limit, exhausting the Java heap. Exploitation requires an application to parse attacker-controlled JSON; the documented consequence is service interruption without confidentiality or integrity impact.
