CVE-2022-4562Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes

Published Feb 13, 2023 · Updated Mar 20, 2025

Stored XSS in Meks Flexible Shortcodes before 1.3.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via crafted shortcode attributes. The mks_button txt_color attribute is inserted into rendered markup without validation or escaping, so an injected event handler is stored in page content. Contributor access is sufficient, and script execution occurs when a privileged user views the affected content, exposing data and actions available in that browser context.
