Firmware disclosure via unprotected SPI flash access
Published Mar 3, 2023 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Information disclosure in ZBT WE1626 Router 21.06.18 allows physically proximate attackers to read firmware through the SPI bus. The exposed NAND-flash pinout permits unrestricted SPI reads, while unencrypted storage allows flashrom to dump the filesystem. Physical access and an SPI bus interface are required; extracted images expose sensitive files such as /etc/shadow and /etc/passwd.
