Authenticated service crash via unchecked sprintf
Published Dec 8, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Stack overflow in Tenda W30E firmware 1.0.1.25(633) allows remote authenticated users to crash the router via a crafted IPsec request. When opttype equals 2, /goform/IPSECsave passes the attacker-controlled ipsecno value to sprintf for insertion into stack buffer s without checking its size. The published proof of concept authenticates to the management interface before sending an oversized ipsecno value; the demonstrated consequence is a router crash.
