Router crash via unchecked sprintf formatting
Published Dec 8, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
A stack overflow in Tenda W30E firmware 1.0.1.25(633) allows remote attackers to crash the router via a crafted page parameter. The SafeEmailFilter handler passes the page value to sprintf for insertion into a fixed stack buffer without checking its length. The proof of concept first authenticates to the management interface, so public evidence does not establish whether unauthenticated requests reach the handler; it demonstrates only a crash, not code execution.
