Router crash via unchecked new_account concatenation
Published Dec 8, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda W30E firmware 1.0.1.25(633) allows remote attackers to crash the router through new_account. The /goform/editUserName handler appends the new_account value to a stack buffer with strcat without checking its size. The published proof of concept logs in with administrative credentials before triggering the crash, although CISA assesses no privileges as required; reliable code execution is not demonstrated.
