Device crash via unchecked sprintf concatenation
Published Dec 8, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda W6-S firmware 1.0.0.4(510) allows remote attackers to crash the access point via an HTTP request. The setAutoPing handler concatenates attacker-controlled ping1 and ping2 values into the stack buffer v9 with sprintf without checking their length. Setting linkEn to 1 reaches the operation without authentication; an oversized value crashes the device, while the published report does not demonstrate code execution.
