CVE-2022-45451

Local privilege escalation via exposed minifilter communication port

Published Aug 31, 2023 · Updated Oct 1, 2024

Privilege escalation in affected Windows builds of three Acronis protection products allows local users to read privileged files. The ngscan.sys file-system minifilter fails to restrict access to its communication port and accepts commands that open files for reading. A low-privileged local process can connect to that port and obtain file contents available to the driver, crossing the file-access boundary.
