CVE-2022-45422

Local privilege escalation via DLL search-path hijacking

Published Nov 21, 2022 · Updated Apr 28, 2025

DLL hijacking in LG Electronics SmartShare allows local users to gain elevated privileges when a user launches the application. The software searches an attacker-controllable path for a DLL without constraining the library to a trusted location; LG has not identified the executable, DLL, or path. A local user must place a malicious library where SmartShare will load it and induce application launch, after which the library executes with elevated privileges.
