UI spoofing via misbounded iframe cursor rendering
Published Dec 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
UI spoofing in Mozilla Firefox before 107, Firefox ESR before 102.5, and Thunderbird before 102.5 allows remote attackers to obscure application chrome. Cursor intersection detection used the in-process root viewport for out-of-process iframes instead of the top-level viewport, allowing an oversized CSS cursor to cross the content boundary. A user must open crafted content and move the pointer near the application chrome; the documented consequence is visual confusion or spoofing, not code execution.
