Information disclosure via quoted remote-content attributes
Published Dec 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Remote-content bypass in Mozilla Thunderbird before 102.5.1 allows remote attackers to trigger network requests through crafted HTML email. When a user quotes the message, VIDEO POSTER and OBJECT DATA attributes are fetched even when remote content is blocked, and POSTER images appear in the composer. Exploitation requires the recipient to reply or otherwise quote the email, exposing request information and potentially enabling additional actions on releases lacking the earlier related protection.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
