CVE-2022-45379Network attack vector

Authenticated code execution via SHA-1 approval collision

Published Nov 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Weak script approval in Jenkins Script Security Plugin 1189.vb_a_b_7c8fd5fde and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute controller code. ScriptApproval stores only a SHA-1 digest for each approved whole script, so a different script with the same digest is treated as administrator-approved. Exploitation requires permission to configure Pipelines and a SHA-1 collision, after which code runs in the Jenkins controller JVM.
