Spreadsheet command execution via unescaped CSV cells
Published Nov 7, 2023 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
CSV injection in Pär Thernström Simple History 3.3.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to plant formulas in exported logs. The CSV export path writes each history cell without neutralizing spreadsheet formula prefixes, so attacker-controlled logged values become formulas when opened. Subscriber-level access can supply the data, but an administrator must export and open the CSV before spreadsheet actions run on the local workstation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
