Crash via stale quantization parameter access
Published Nov 29, 2022 · Updated May 2, 2025
Heap use-after-free in GPAC 2.1-DEV-rev478-g696e6f868-master allows attackers to crash MP4Box by opening a crafted BIFS file. During MPEG-4 BIFS scene decoding, Q_IsTypeOn reads a QuantizationParameter object after command cleanup has freed it. Opening the supplied proof-of-concept file triggers the stale heap read; exploitation requires local, user-initiated file processing.
