Authenticated code execution via unchecked SNMP key
Published Dec 5, 2022 · Updated Apr 9, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in MikroTik RouterOS before 7.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through a crafted SNMP packet. The snmp process fails to validate a u32_id value before Item::regenerateKeys uses it as an array offset, making a later function pointer attacker-controlled. An account authenticated to the device and access to the enabled SNMP service are required; successful exploitation grants code execution, while the published proof of concept crashes the process.
